FAQ

What is the ideal timeframe for naming a new superintendent?
Our goal is to have the next Superintendent of Schools in place prior to the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year.

What is the remaining timeline of the search process?
The Board met with Thompson & Horton, LLP Nov. 4 in open and closed sessions to discuss the timeline, process and community engagement activities. To date, we have completed focus groups with parents, community leaders and students. We also collected community input via a survey. The Board is working with Thompson & Horton to review all of this collective feedback as we move forward in the process to identify, interview and select the next Superintendent of Schools.

Additional meetings to discuss the superintendent search will be scheduled in January. Check www.eanesisd.net/suptsearch for dates and times.

How will the community be able to offer input?
Our process will invite the parents, students, staff, advocates and the community to share expectations for leadership characteristics and skills for our next superintendent, through focus groups and an online survey.

How were focus group participants selected?
Working with Thompson & Horton, the Board identified parents, community leaders, advocates and students to participate in focus groups. We are extremely grateful to the 72 invited attendees who made the time to join these discussions – and to the more than 1,100 people who responded to our survey. This is further testament to our community’s dedication to the strength and success of Eanes ISD.

How does the search process work?
The Board of Trustees has engaged Thompson & Horton LLC to conduct the search, which will be led by Mr. David Thompson and Dr. Mike Moses. Thompson & Horton will engage with the Eanes community and the Board of Trustees to develop a candidate profile and identify key characteristics we seek in our next Superintendent. The firm will then bring candidates before the Board of Trustees for interviews. The Board of Trustees will vote on a finalist candidate, name that finalist, and wait the state-required 45 days prior to entering into a contract with the finalist.

Our goal is to have the next Superintendent of Schools in place prior to the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year.

Will the search firm select the next superintendent?
Thompson & Horton LLP will facilitate the process to identify candidates. The Board of Trustees will select and vote on a final candidate.

Why did the Board need to engage a search firm?
All of us in the Eanes community have an interest in selecting the strongest candidate possible. The Board of Trustees consider the hiring of our next Superintendent of Schools to be one of the most important it can take. Therefore, as we have done previously, and is common practice in school districts, we sought to engage with an experienced, prominent firm that specializes in superintendent searches.

How will the Board keep the community informed during the search and selection process?
Information about the search and selection process will be shared through parent emails, social media and the Eanes ISD website.

Will internal candidates be considered? Is this a nationwide search?
All of us in the Eanes community have an interest in selecting the strongest candidate possible. We will consider candidates who meet the search criteria, including any internal candidates.

What makes the Eanes ISD superintendent position attractive to potential candidates?
We are extremely proud of the strength of our District. We have a highly engaged community. We have committed students and incredible staff. Academic performance is at its highest point in District history. The combination of our students, staff and community make Eanes ISD one of the most innovative in the country.
