The COVID-19 pandemic has changed many aspects of our schools, community and world. The expectation school will resume safely and responsibly this fall is accompanied by numerous opinions and theories about how to do so. As expected, viewpoints are as varied as each person’s unique experience and circumstance. Reopening school in August will be very complex due to many unknown and uncertain variables.
With so many unknowns, students, parents and staff have understandable and legitimate concerns. Everyone desires and expects a safe emotional and physical environment in which to learn and work. Eanes ISD will provide the option for parents and staff to indicate whether they want to return to school remotely via online learning, or physically return to the building, understanding there will be extensive changes to the school environment.
Several task forces of 70 teachers, parents, community members and administrators have identified information necessary to make appropriate decisions for one’s family or oneself. The health and safety of staff and students are paramount in the recommendations. Four task forces studied the following topics:
- Remote Learning and In-Building Learning
- Curriculum, Instruction and Assessments
- Learning and Work Environments
- Administering Options

The information on this website provides awareness and understanding in four distinct areas as individuals exercise possible options when returning to work and learning for the 2020-21 school year.
