Bringing Back A Good One... For the Interim

A message from Eanes ISD Superintendent of Schools
Bringing Back A Good One... For the Interim

Dear Cedar Creek Community,

While we have been busy with remote learning over the past several weeks, rest assured, we have continued to keep Cedar Creek Elementary top-of-mind. We want to ensure we have the most qualified candidate available who meets the district’s and campus’ standards to provide the best fit for the campus community.

I once again want to thank Susan Fambrough for the mark she made as principal of Cedar Creek Elementary. Her enthusiasm and care for students, coupled with a strong compassion for staff is remarkable. We are excited for Susan Fambrough in her new role as Chief Learning Officer and we know she will bring just as much enthusiasm and dedication to the Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment team as she did in her two years at CCE.

Whenever there is leadership change at a campus, naturally, there can be anxiety and questions as to who will move into the position. I can empathize with the sentiment, which is why I want to make the best decision possible and not rush the process, particularly with the uncertainty of the current climate and remote environment. Further, the timing of a full process involving stakeholder input and finding a qualified candidate who is not currently under contract would prove to be very difficult at this time.

Due to this uncertainty of candidates and the inability to conduct a thorough interview process, we have decided to move forward with an interim principal at Cedar Creek. Please note we are choosing an individual who is a true interim, and who will not be a candidate for the principal position, to make it clear to all that a full, transparent selection process will occur in the winter/spring of the 2020-21 school year.

Thankfully, we have an extremely qualified interim candidate who we know well and respect deeply. I am excited to announce we are bringing Brad Wirht back to Eanes ISD to serve as interim CCE Principal for the 2020-21 school year. While Brad opened Bridge Point Elementary in 1997 and served as principal 19 years, some may not know he was Cedar Creek Principal four years before opening BPE.

Brad has extensive knowledge in Eanes ISD and knows our culture better than most. Since retiring in 2016, Brad has been traveling and relaxing, but he recently stepped in at West Ridge Middle School as an interim assistant principal in 2018. The transition to CCE interim will be seamless and we know the campus community will love Brad’s temperament and leadership. He is excited to return to where he started his Eanes ISD career.

We still plan to collect feedback from the CCE community and we will work together at a later date to select a new principal. In the meantime, I am confident Brad will serve as an excellent interim and will help guide CCE through the school year.

Thank you,

Tom Leonard
