COVID-19 Update 1.17.22

You may have seen other area districts closing schools or canceling bus services due to staff shortages, rising COVID cases and the highly transmissible Omicron variant. Fortunately, while Eanes ISD is definitely experiencing an increase in positive cases, instruction and operations continue thanks to our amazing staff and their efforts to cover classes and bus routes, and thoroughly and frequently clean areas. We are all working hard to keep our schools running.

Given how easily transmissible the Omicron variant is, we are taking a more proactive and efficient approach to parent notifications, beginning Tuesday. Each campus will send a notification communication once a day to the entire campus, showing which classes may have had a close contact exposure due to a positive case. As the potential for exposure expands, our commitment to providing information to families will mean broader communication as well.

We are aware and sympathetic to the amount of email notifications families have received in the past two weeks. However, we do believe the change to once daily communication provides families with specific information to make decisions about the well-being of their students.

We want to continue to keep our schools in-person and open. Therefore, as the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and local health authorities recommend, individuals should take precautions and get vaccinated, get boosted and wear a mask in public indoor settings.

We will continue to update the dashboard daily for those who were onsite, excluding holidays and weekends.

Thank you for partnering with us as we remain diligent in our efforts to continue to provide a safe and healthy learning environment for our students and staff and keep schools operational. We cannot do this without everyone’s support.
