Heroes

Those who perform an outstanding achievement that brings prestige to Eanes ISD, or do something that goes above and beyond the call of duty.

Patty Gray, Executive Assistant to the Superintendent
Patty consistently goes above and beyond in service to the district, balancing countless responsibilities with professionalism, grace, and an unwavering commitment to supporting others. Whether assisting the Board, guiding district leadership, or serving as a trusted resource and even legal counsel, Patty approaches every challenge with expertise, positivity, and a willingness to help. She is often the first person to lend a helping hand and does so with a smile that reflects her genuine care for the organization and the people within it. This year was especially challenging, as Patty helped to onboard an interim superintendent and an incoming superintendent, all while moving office locations three times, and managing the district’s legal department when our General Counsel went on maternity leave. She didn’t blink twice and took it all in stride. Patty’s dedication, leadership, and selfless service make her an invaluable part of our district and truly deserving of the Heroes Award.

Cheryal Loosmore, Multimedia Coordinator
As our Multimedia Coordinator, Cheryal manages the district’s social media presence and assists with the campus’ 20+ accounts. She takes the utmost care in capturing not only the best and brightest parts of the district, but often takes the initiative to delve into the stories of those who don’t always get a spotlight. Cheryal made a great effort this past year to knit together our schools and programs’ social media creators, guiding and encouraging those unfamiliar with social media to help them be confident in highlighting their students and programs. She carved out time each month to teach staff how to create successful social media campaigns that went beyond posting flyers on Facebook. Cheryal provided insight into what makes a great post and how to build on it to keep it relevant. She even developed a social media newsletter with guidelines on posting, calendars of important events, software suggestions, and general tips-and-tricks to effective social media communication. She has been a true hero to so many and we will truly miss her next year!

Angela Bluer, SSHAC Volunteer - Co Chair
Angela has been a SSHAC member for years and graciously agreed to co-chair the council this year.  She has been an excellent chair bringing new ideas, being open to suggestions from members, and really engaging the voice of the students on the council.  This year Angela had the idea to tour campus cafeterias as we worked on the District Wellness Plan.  She attended the tours at all three levels, and this idea really led to a deeper understanding of Child Nutrition Services.  We have appreciated all Angela has done to support the health and wellness of the school community.

Jeff Weeks, Austin-Westlake Rotary Club
Jeff is a Rotarian, and has volunteered his time for numerous years on the Educator/Teacher of the Year Committee. Although Jeff no longer has children in the district, he comes back each year to participate in about 6 hours of interviews and discussion to help select the Teacher of the Year. Jeff is always enthusiastic about the task adding to the excitement of this award.  He is thoughtful about his decision and talks about what he learns and gets out of the process, too.  We will continue to welcome Jeff to the TOY selection committee as along as he is willing to serve.
