Board of Trustees Highlights
An Update from the Eanes ISD Board of Trustees
Superintendent's Report
We celebrated our Trustees in January as a part of School Board Recognition Month. Our Trustees are volunteers who shoulder critical responsibilities and often make difficult choices for our district, all without pay. Their leadership and commitment to the success of our district are admirable and they spend hours and hours on behalf of our community. Please take a moment to thank our Trustees by sending a quick note to trustees@eanesisd.net.

In January, our Board continued budget discussions, reviewed and discussed district goals and began discussions on a potential election that could allow the district to access additional revenue that would not be subject to recapture, thereby allowing more local revenue available for Eanes ISD schools. The Board also heard a report on the proposed aquatics center approved in the 2019 Bond.

See a synopsis of the January meetings below. Full Board agenda packets are online.
Budget Discussions Continue
The Board continued its discussions on options to reduce the deficit in the 2020-21 budget and beyond. The Board reviewed the budget development calendar for the 2020-21 budget, historical financial comparisons with like districts and multi-year budgeting scenarios. The Board also discussed calling a November 2020 election that could yield a $2.1M surplus in 2020-21, rather than the projected $1.4M deficit, without the need for staff reductions.

Eanes Bond
Proposed Aquatics Center Study
The Board reviewed a study on the proposed aquatics center passed in the 2019 Bond, including options for revenue and expenses as well as management and staffing options. The study was developed by the district's contracted aquatics consultant and included input from the aquatics focus group.

Board Summit Review
The 2020 Board and Administrative Strategic Summit took place over two days in January and resulted in proposed Board priorities and administrative goals for the 2020-21 school year. The administration will now incorporate the goals into the District Improvement Plan and respective Campus Improvement Plans later this spring. The 2020-21 priorities and goals will be formally approved by the Board in February.
