Board of Trustees Highlights
An Update from the Eanes ISD Board of Trustees
Superintendent's Report

In August, the Board heard reports on several topics including an enrollment update, approved the property tax rate and the operating procedures for the re-purposed 2015 Bond Oversight Committee and more.
See a synopsis of the August meetings below. The full Board agenda packets are online.
Members Sought For Envision Eanes Advisory Committee

The Board is looking for parents and community members to serve on a formal advisory committee called Envision Eanes. The committee will explore how Eanes ISD can become a greater institution of education and innovation for the next generation, being mindful of student wellness and achievement.

Apply by September 14.
Enrollment Update

The Board heard the latest enrollment numbers for 2018-19. As of Aug. 9 before the start of the school year, the total enrollment was 8,145, including 408 out-of-district transfer students and 17 students in the Adult Transition Services program.
Bond Oversight Committee Re-Purposed

The Board approved the new charter that re-purposes the existing Bond Oversight Committee (BOC) to an advisory committee for a potential 2019 bond. The committee's role will now vet the necessity and desirability of potential projects; prioritize projects in the event some might need to be removed for cost reasons; and determine how best to present projects to provide public transparency and oversight guidance for a future BOC.

Property Tax Rate Adopted, Outstanding Bonds Redeemed

The Board adopted the 2018-19 property tax rate as unchanged with the tax rate of $1.20. The total tax rate of $1.20 includes $1.06 for General Fund (Maintenance and Operations) and $0.14 for Debt Service (Interest and Sinking).
Trustees also approved taking action to redeem some of the District's outstanding bonds. Since 2013, the District has redeemed more than $16 million of its existing debt, saving more than $10 million in avoided interest payments.

The Board recognized the Westlake High School Stadium Video Crew. The students recently received a Broadcast Journalism Award from the University Interscholastic League.
