Adult Transition Services

Targets & Skills

ATS Mission

The mission of ATS is to provide instruction to students which will enable them to live and function as independently and successfully as possible in their community after they transition from ATS.

The instruction focuses on the four life domains (click each domain to learn more):

  1. Continuing Education
  2. Vocation
  3. Independent Living
  4. Recreation/Leisure (Social)

The goal of ATS is to develop a structure of opportunities and activities that the student can continue to access after they leave ATS through agency and/or family supports.

The purpose of the ATS Targets and Skills is to support the adult student, parent(s), and ATS staff in the development of the individual instructional needs of the student. The intention is not for a student to work on all targets and skills; however, through transition assessments, the adult student, parent(s), and ATS staff can collaborate on a prioritized list targets and skills to consider in the development of the individualized education plan.

These adult transition skills were developed and adapted using resources from the following sources:
Texas TEKS for Career Preparation
Alabama Transition Standards
Connecticut Core Transition Skills
Wisconsin Community on Practice of Transition
