There is no dedicated aquatics center/pool for Westlake HS swim program - the current rental agreement at a local pool runs through 2019-20. There is no available space at nearby aquatics facilities. There is a possibility of revenue associated with renting a pool to community and outside groups.

The debt on construction of an aquatics center would not be issued until the Board determines the facility's impact on Maintenance & Operations (M&O) costs would be significantly mitigated or eliminated.

The Board agreed, if needed, to use no more than $4 million of funds from the sale of the Baldwin and River Hills properties to offset construction costs of new facilities proposed in the bond.

If the aquatics center is not deemed feasible, the debt portion dedicated to the construction of the aquatics center would not be issued and would never be used for other purposes.

 

The debt to build this facility would not be issued until:
1) construction is deemed feasible
2) necessary permitting and approvals are confirmed
3) it is determined the impact on M&O costs would be significantly mitigated or eliminated
