An Update from the Eanes ISD Board of Trustees

Superintendent's Report

With Thanksgiving just a couple days away, I am personally grateful for so much. First and foremost, I am thankful for our amazing teachers and staff who have worked tirelessly to make this year the best they can. I am thankful for our incredible students who are navigating through the school year with such strength and resiliency.

I am also thankful the Penny Swap passed! We are incredibly thankful to our community for its support of our students, teachers and staff and voting to keep $3.3 million local.

In November, the Board reviewed the Westlake HS College Admissions and Advanced Placement report, the district's enrollment trends and heard a report on the annual financials audit. We also welcomed new trustees Laura Clark and Kim McMath and said goodbye to outgoing trustees Christie Bybee and Jason Paull, who served our community well. Their service is much appreciated.

Thought Breaks & Calendar Adjustments

The Board approved the District Leadership Team’s (DLT) recommendation to add a series of “Thought Breaks” to the remaining 2020-21 calendar for staff mental health and planning. The recommendation came as a result of feedback from the fall 2020 staff survey, where staff overwhelmingly asked for more planning time.

Thought Breaks will be comprised in most cases by blocks of two back-to-back early-release days for ALL grades. This would equate to the addition of eight early-release days, which will always fall on Wednesday and Thursdays (excluding the end-of-semester early release dates).

Independent Auditor's Report

The Board reviewed the annual independent auditor's report for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2020. The district earned an "unmodified opinion" or "clean opinion" which is the best rating a school district can receive.
