Four Eanes ISD rising 9th graders received honors at the Travis County "Do the Write Thing" Essay contest reception. Kendall Laycock (HCMS), David Nieto (HCMS), Jennifer Bui (WRMS), and Amir Alaghehband (WRMS) were recognized out of more than 3,200 essays submitted from 16 schools in Travis County. Amir was selected as one of two National Ambassadors to represent Travis County at the National "Do the Write Thing" convention in Washington DC this summer.
The writing contest gives students an opportunity to examine the impact of youth violence on their lives and in our culture and society. Students communicate through writing what they think should be done to reduce youth violence, and they make personal commitments to do something about this problem.
