The Digital Learning Task Force (DLTF) made up of parents, students and staff indicated that additional practice taking their iPad home in 5th Grade would be tremendously helpful in strengthening skills such as organization and responsibility. To help our families and students be prepared for this new level of access, the district has kicked off the “5th Grade iPad Springboard” project. This project is designed to help students slowing ease into the responsibility of taking home a school-issued device for limited and purposeful instances later this semester.
2015 DLTF Committee
The Digital Learning Task Force brought a mix of teachers, parents, community members, students, and administrators to discuss a broad spectrum of beliefs on technology use in schools.
The Task Force met five times in the Fall 2015. The Digital Learning Task Force and accompanying symposiums provided many opportunities for feedback from staff, students and community members and will be vital in providing guidance for the next steps of the student mobile device initiative.
The purpose of the Digital Learning Task Force was to:
- Research latest technology trends and current integration models of technology and learning
- Learn from industry experts and our own staff and students to address future needs when it comes to digital learning
- Discuss next steps for our 1:1 initiative
- Research expectations and goals for professional development and standardization of digital learning platforms
As announced in early March 2016, the District will implement an Eanes App Store for the 2016-17 school year, providing more control and consistency across all campuses.
