We are happy to announce the College Tutors Educator of the Quarter recipients for the first quarter of the 2019 -2020 school year! This award recognizes the middle and high school educators within the Eanes ISD who act as role models for their students. Nominated with input by the school administration, the Educator of the Quarter award shines a spotlight on the educators who exemplify the three core values of College Tutors: Can Do, Results Matter, and Leave It Better.
Rachel Leader is the Westlake High School Educator of the Quarter. We are so proud of Rachel and the endless positivity she brings to Westlake High School as our newest Educator of the Quarter! She told us, “When I was in high school, I had some really influential teachers. Not only did they challenge my thinking and helped me rise to my full potential, but they also connected with me during a difficult time in my life. In many ways, they were my role models, and although I may not have always been the best student, I loved going to school because of the endless support and insight they provided. Once I got to college, I was surrounded by professors who were clearly passionate about learning and the subjects in which they taught. It was here where my appetite to teach grew, for I knew I wanted a profession that was both challenging as well as rewarding.”
Nicki Sablatura is the West Ridge Middle School Educator of the Quarter. Nicki’s love for West Ridge Middle School is obvious and we are thankful for the time and energy she invests in her students, school, and the Eanes ISD community. When asked about her experience, she stated, “I was so lucky my first year at WRMS to find such an amazing team of educators to support me. My biggest piece of advice for new teachers is to seek out the support of other educators at every available opportunity. Our community at Eanes ISD is blessed to have so many amazing and knowledgeable educators, who are always willing to share their knowledge and ideas.”
Cathy Yenca is the Hill Country Middle School Educator of the Quarter. This is Cathy’s 20th year of teaching and her dedication and love for the craft is obvious when you speak to her and her students. She states, “My students keep me laughing and help keep me current! I love spending time with them each day. There's nothing more rewarding than watching a student go from not understanding something to having that bright "AH-HA" moment of clarity!” We want to thank Cathy and all the Educator of the Quarter recipients for their dedication and the support they provide to other teachers, their students, and the Eanes community.
Congratulations to these teachers, and thank you so much for all that you do! Eanes ISD would not be the same without you and we are thankful for your commitment to your students!
