Educational Impact Award

Those who display leadership and commitment to the district by making a positive, noticeable and significant impact.

Ms. Colleen Gunter
Ms. Gunter is an amazing educator who collaborates with her peers to ensure the success of her students. She does define a student's limits or successes, but rather pushes them to achieve the highest goal possible and then some. She is kind, compassionate, and a wonderful colleague and friend. She is always positive, happy to jump in, and demonstrates consistent, calm strategies for all of our students. She is patient, but also always seems to know the right time to step in to help students stay on track. She celebrates student successes and inspires in others a sense of team and belonging.

Congratulations, and thank you Ms. Gunter.

Ms. Stephanie Castaneda
Ms. Castaneda goes above and beyond every day for her students and the math department. She creates engaging and important lessons daily, setting high standards but instilling confidence and responsibility in students. By the end of the year, students are grateful that Ms. Castaneda taught them not only math skills but also the value of persistence and process. Thank you for all you do for our students!

Ms. Diana Silva
Ms. Silva leads to inspire at West Ridge Middle School and exemplifies everything one looks for in a great teacher, leader, and colleague. She creates opportunities not only for her students to excel, but the ELA department as well. On any given day, you will see Ms. Silva demonstrating empathy in her classroom, facilitating learning at its highest level, as well as collaborating and supporting her peers. We have a saying at West Ridge, "every student, every day" and Ms. Silva models that spirit extraordinarily.

Ms. Carol Reese
Ms. Reese is a hero and a role model. She leads with her heart and her compassion drives her. She thinks not only about the students, but the faculty as well. Ms. Reese is always coming up with innovative ways on how to improve the school culture through projects, field trips, and integrative lessons. Not only does she have an educational impact at West Ridge, but to the city as well. The time and energy she spends mentoring high school students to put on the Tedx Conference for youth is unbelievable. Her dedication to education is amazing and we are so thankful to have her as part of our team!

Good Samaritan Award

One who displays compassion, selflessness, or courage by taking initiative.

Ms. Susan Selinidis
Susan is such a self-less and hard working person, and our Mathcounts program at WRMS would not exist without her hours of work and preparation to keep the program going. Susan cares deeply about extending the math programs at our school, of which the students, parents and fellow teachers are so grateful. Susan never complains and is always prepared with exciting and challenging activities for the team, spending long hours at home grading work. We can't thank her enough for her dedication to our school, our students and our Mathcounts program.

Heroes Award

Those who perform an outstanding achievement that brings prestige to Eanes ISD, or do something that goes above and beyond the call of duty.

Ms. Teresa Bowerman
Ms. Bowerman's love of learning and desire to constantly improve make her a hero to many of her coworkers and students. No matter what needs her students have, she works to make every child know that they have something valuable to offer. She listens to them and gives an understanding aspect that helps them. Her teaching style is versatile as she constantly makes changes and adapts on the fly from bell to bell. Ms. Bowerman displays a hunger to learn what inspires her students and ignites their senses of curiosity. Thank you, Ms. Bowerman!
