Educational Impact Award
Those who display leadership and commitment to the district by making a positive, noticeable and significant impact.
Mr. Todd White and Mr. Dillon Finan
Dillon played an instrumental part in bringing the Student Spaceflight Experiment Program, or SSEP, to Eanes by grant writing, working extensively with the students to cultivate successful student ideas, and planning Space Night. He has also created a huge educational impact through his extensive work with Science Professional Learning Communities by leading change in instruction, innovation, and assessment.
Todd worked ceaselessly to create opportunities for success during the SSEP project. Two of his student groups were selected for their science experiment to run on the International Space Station. The experience and memories for all the students involved with the SSEP will last a life time, and we have Todd to thank. And, he even sacrificed an early Saturday morning to go on live television to promote the program. Thanks Todd!
Mr. Mike Ciccareli
As a collaborative support teacher, Mike goes above and beyond to ensure that all students are learning every day. He spends a lot of his own time outside of class creating different study tools and resources to help students. He is always willing to help brainstorm, plan, prepare, and deliver instruction. He is also very detailed and prompt with relaying class information to parents and students. Mike is a great asset to our classrooms. His attitude and approach are always positive, and he is making a great impact on student learning.
Good Samaritan Award
One who displays compassion, selflessness, or courage by taking initiative.
Ms. Judy Cabaza-Perez
Judy is in charge of all of our family events at West Ridge. She organizes, plans, and throws great parties that help build our community. She is the faculty's go-to person in all moments of joy and crisis. In a year with personal challenges for Judy, she has somehow found the strength to continue her role as faculty mother and emotional provider. Judy is a caring, compassionate, and empathetic person who we all hold dear as the faculty caregiver!
Ms. Diane Dealy
Diane was instrumental in our WRMS Adopt-A-Family service project. She helped organize our school-wide service project, collect items, keep track of all donations and money, meet with parent volunteers, purchase last minute items needed for our families and much more. When one of the bags containing all the gifts and items collected for one individual could not be located, Diane replaced all of the items students had donated. She then wrapped them and brought them to school, so the sponsor for the receiving school could pick it up for delivery. Diane has a warm heart and a helpful, kind nature that really brought our service project together. Thanks so much for all you did to make our WRMS service project a huge success.
Those who perform an outstanding achievement that brings prestige to Eanes ISD, or do something that goes above and beyond the call of duty.
Mr. Carlos Guerrero
Carlos is kind and giving every day. He cares for our students and works hard to provide them with the best learning environment. He is always willing to help out and always has a positive attitude. When asked for help, he always says "of course," never just "yes." His dedication to making things the best for West Ridge students is evident every day. In addition, he's always the helpful, smiling face that is helping to set up and break down for afterschool events. It is wonderful to work with Carlos, and we are lucky to have him at our school!
Ms. Angel Martinez
Angel always goes above and beyond. She is compassionate and selflessly provides her time to help teachers improve their skills. When someone needs help, Angel drops everything and gives them 100% of her attention. She spends countless hours a week mentoring others that seek her advice. Angel is innovative with her responses and helps teachers think outside of the teacher mind and inside the child's. She is an advocate for putting the child's needs first and is a great example for other teachers. We now have a saying in the Intervention world of West Ridge, "What would Angel do?" Thank you Angel for being a mentor and a hero!
Ms. Van Alvarez
Ms. Jessica Jones
Jessica is an asset to the Life Skills team as well as the district. She goes above and beyond the standard duty of a Teaching Assistant. She shows compassion daily when working with students in the Life Skills program, and she always puts the needs of everyone around her before her own. She volunteers her time beyond what is required to help students and staff. On many occasions, she has stayed late with students to wait for their parents and has walked others home to make sure they got home safe. In addition, she often stays after to help the team prep materials and lessons. Jessica's enthusiastic attitude and initiative helps create a positive learning environment. She demonstrates a love for learning and passion for education.
Van is a remarkable substitute teacher at West Ridge. Several teachers request her as their sub preference, because they know she will take great care of their students. Van is dependable and her work ethic is second to none. She is patient, kind, and always treats students with respect. We are lucky to have Van as our go-to sub. We appreciate her dedication to making a difference at our school!
