Educational Impact Award

Those who display leadership and commitment to the district by making a positive, noticeable and significant impact.

Ms. Vicki Bales
Ms. Bales loves to teach, and she loves Texas history. She's a natural. She retired from teaching at FTE a few years ago, but fortunately for us, she came back. After careful study of the curriculum, Ms. Bales created an interactive notebook to go alongside the weekly crosswords and questions. She comes most Tuesdays and Thursdays as a volunteer to lead stories, lectures and projects about Texas. She grades, advises, and listens to teachers and students alike.

Ms. Bales nomination reads, "Her passion for Texas history inspires 4th graders to reach beyond current standards. It also helps that she's related to Colonel Fannin, a famous Texas Revolutionary War hero."

Mr. Michael Buthe
Since beginning working in Eanes ISD four years ago, Mr. Buthe has exemplified the excellence we uphold. He has shown great leadership and made multiple positive contributions to both the school and the district. Mr. Buthe has volunteered his time to serve on multiple committees, including the Campus Leadership Team, District Leadership Team, and the District Facilities Master Planning Committee. Mr. Buthe never tires in looking for ways to help improve the academic environment in Eanes. He exemplifies the character qualities of the Educational Impact award in every area.

Ms. Kristina Green
Ms. Green is a model teacher who makes learning fun, and creates a nurturing atmosphere for all students. Ms. Green finds time to upload and create learning documents that help students immensely. Not only does she create her own resources, but she also is consistently finding the best resources and strategies for her students to use. She matches the concepts and provides remediation for those in need and extends the curriculum to personalize learning. Ms. Green goes above and beyond the regular call of duty to support students even after they have left for the school day.

Ms. Karen Purdy
Ms. Purdy is an amazing, dedicated teacher, mentor, team member and colleague. She goes above and beyond the call of duty daily with a positive, energetic attitude. Her students and colleagues respect her, and she spreads her cheer around the campus daily. Ms. Purdy is a lifelong learner - always reading and trying new techniques in her classroom and is always willing to share and collaborate. She is incredibly selfless and we are so grateful to spend our days working alongside of her.

Good Samaritan Award

One who displays compassion, selflessness, or courage by taking initiative.

Ms. Allyie Carberry
Ms. Carberry is the mother of a second grade student at Forest Trail. When Ms. Carberry realized that we no longer had teacher assistants, she organized a group of volunteers to help with bulletin boards, organizing curriculum materials and helping with any other jobs that the second grade teachers needed to support the students. She checks in weekly with the teachers about their needs and then coordinates with her volunteer group to share the information and ensure that the needs are met. Ms. Carberry has made an educational impact by consistently providing support to the entire second grade team to ensure their continued success.

Ms. Jacqueline Renz
Ms. Renz is a dedicated volunteer at Forest Trail Elementary who consistently puts her personal schedule aside in order to be available each day to help out wherever she is needed. She makes copies, puts up bulletin boards, reads with 1st grade guided reading groups, stuffs folders, files paperwork, and completes many other tasks to serve both teachers and students. On top of that - she is a homeroom parent and regularly helps organize events and parties. She is dedicated to our school and gives her time selflessly. Forest Trail is a happier and more beautiful place because of her.

Ms. Mia Townsend
Ms. Townsend is the parent of a 2nd grade student at Forest Trail Elementary. When Ms. Townsend realized that we no longer had a copy room assistant to organize and make copies for the 2nd grade team, she volunteered to come up every Friday to help so that the teachers could be prepared for the next week. She arrives early Friday morning and organizes and sorts the activities for the next week and makes all the copies that are needed. She is very dependable and organized and has been a tremendous help this year. We appreciate her positive attitude and dedication to helping the teachers and students of FTE.

Heroes Award

Those who perform an outstanding achievement that brings prestige to Eanes ISD, or do something that goes above and beyond the call of duty.

Ms. Madelynn Arnold
Mrs. Arnold is our Garden Coordinator at Forest Trail. She has organized each classroom's garden, providing teachers and parent volunteers with the seeds and a diagram of where to plant our seeds. She has helped many classes plant their seeds and then sent follow up emails letting the teachers know the best ways to care for the garden plots. The children and teachers love working with Mrs. Arnold. Thank you Mrs. Arnold for being our Garden Hero!
