Educational Impact

Those who display leadership and commitment to the district by making a positive, noticeable and significant impact.

Ms. Alyssa Barrera, LSSP
Due to unexpected staffing shortages, Ms. Barrera took on additional evaluation duties this school year by completing all of the Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) evaluations in addition to her full-time LSSP duties for school-age students at Eanes Elementary. She handled this extra assignment with the utmost grace by fulfilling this need without a single complaint. Her dedication, hardworking nature, and positive attitude are evident throughout all that she does. Ms. Barrera pitches in to serve the LSSP team whenever possible by going above and beyond to assist the team with managing and distributing testing protocols. She is loyal, caring, patient, knowledgeable, and flexible. Ms. Barrera is a strong asset to Eanes Elementary and Eanes ISD.

Ms. Lorraine Lopez, Special Ed Teacher
Ms. Lopez goes above and beyond with all her students and puts her students’ needs first. She’s dedicated to helping our students succeed every day. Every day is a new challenge and adventure and she takes every challenge head-on. Ms. Lopez remains positive and happy throughout the week and she is a great friend and coworker. She is always willing to help out wherever she’s needed and has become a great support system and inspiration for her coworkers. Ms. Lopez is truly an inspiration to everyone with her determination and drive to keep going in the hardest of times.

Ms. Sonia Marshalek, Substitute
Ms. Marshalek has proven herself to be reliable, flexible, professional and caring in yet another challenging year for education. Her dedication and passion to help others is notable among teachers and students alike. She has provided support in a large variety of classrooms, especially in the Spanish Immersion classes. Her positive disposition is demonstrated in her beautiful words and smile. Having her in the EANES team is a privilege and we are so thankful.

Ms. Sherry Neuendorff, Long Term Substitute-3rd Grade
Ms. Neuendorff shadowed a teacher for one day before the teacher unexpectedly went into labor! There was no need for panic, as Ms. Neuendorff jumped right in without missing a beat, a month earlier than expected, making the transition beyond smooth for our children.  She stayed on as the full-time teacher. Ms. Neuendorff has been the perfect mix of traditional education as well as new fun and creative learning in the classroom. She also stepped in and took over the duties of the lead teacher for the third-grade team. She goes above and beyond, even offering to pick up supplies she realizes our children are missing in her "off" hours so that they are all fully prepared for projects and presentations. Her classroom feels like a family and we are so very VERY lucky for her.

Rasika Ranganathan, Substitute

Ms. Ranganathan is a parent and substitute teacher at EE who has had an incredible impact on our students this year. When we had an unfilled TA vacancy at the start of the spring semester, Ms. Ranganathan stepped in to sub for us every single day. She has been a consistent, loving presence for our students this spring, and she has ensured that students continue to receive all of the support they need to be successful at school. Her dedication and care for our students is unmatched, and we cannot thank her enough for stepping in to sub this semester.

Good Samaritan

One who displays compassion, selflessness, or courage by taking initiative.

Ms. Jennifer Ice, Parent Volunteer
Ms. Ice started volunteering in the library several years ago when her children were just starting at Eanes. She would not just come for the class periods for her own children, she would stay and help wherever needed; helping students find books/book recommendations, checking in/out books, shelving books, helping tidy up the library and cleaning tables, and any special projects that we had going on. Ms. Ice eagerly accepted our invitation to join and help with recent book fairs and stepped into the role masterfully.  She helps with recruiting volunteers, set up, sales, and tear down. She has also been a valuable supporter of the library as a whole. We look forward to working with her for as long as she has a child at Eanes Elementary and will be sure to let Hill Country Middle School know what a valuable asset she will be to them next year when her oldest goes off to middle school.

Those who perform an outstanding achievement that brings prestige to Eanes ISD, or do something that goes above and beyond the call of duty.

Ms. CeCe Colbert, Teacher Assistant
Ms. Colbert is an extraordinary educator who goes above and beyond for our students every single day. Over the course of this school year, She has worked with students in every grade level K-5, filling in gaps in coverage wherever she was needed most. Although the schedule has been challenging this year, Ms. Colbert has never failed to serve our students with contagious positivity, joy, and a love of learning. It is not uncommon to hear groups of students calling out her name as she walks around campus! Ms. Colbert brightens up every classroom she enters and also is a huge help to the Special Olympics team. She is one of the most uplifting staff members on our campus, and she has been a rock on which so many teachers have relied this year. EE would not be the same without her!

Ms. Christine Overend, Long Term Substitute, 4th & 5th Grade
Ms. Overend has gone above and beyond the call of duty in her roles as a long-term sub for both 4th and 5th grade this year. Her positive attitude shines daily as she greets everyone with a bright smile. Her passion for teaching and connecting with each learner as an individual is evident. She puts the needs of her students first and is eager to create engaging lessons to reach all learners. Ms. Overend demonstrates patience and flexibility. Our students have been in amazing hands this year with Mrs. Overend.

Ms. Martha Hansen & Whitney Braden, Parent Volunteers
Ms. Hansen and Ms. Braden helped create and organize the first and hopefully annual district Booster Club Bootcamp. The dynamic duo helped form sessions and speakers and offered themselves as go-to point people for all of the other booster clubs, PTOs and supporting organizations from around the district. The Bootcamp was an amazing success, bringing more than 35 parent volunteers together to collaborate and discuss how to better support campuses and staff. Thank you, Ms. Hansen and Ms. Braden, for your incredible insight and selflessness to help share your experiences and knowledge!
