Notice of Destruction of Special Education Program Records
Special Education records collected by the Eanes Independent School District (EISD) related to the identification, evaluation, educational placement, or the provision of special education services in the district, must be maintained under state and federal laws for a period of five (5) years after special education services have ended for the student. This notification is to inform parents/guardians/adult students and former students, of EISD’s intent to destroy inactive special education records from the 2019-2020 school year. These records will be destroyed in accordance with state law, on or after June 30, 2025 unless the parent/guardian or eligible (adult) student notifies EISD otherwise. After five years, the records are no longer used by EISD, but they may be useful to the parent/guardian or former student in applying for Social Security benefits, rehabilitation services, college entrance, etc. Parents/guardians or eligible (adult) students may request to review or receive copies of the records in writing or by contacting Eanes ISD Special Education Offices, 601 Camp Craft Rd., Austin, TX 78746, 512-732-9021. Proof of identity will be required. Requests for copies must be received by June 16, 2025. Photocopies will be provided at the cost of 10 cents per page.
