The operations staff maintains the equivalent of 700 homes with the average square footage of 2,000 square feet. They maintain 5,488 tons of air conditioning, which is equivalent to 1,830 homes with the average of 3 tons of air conditioning each.
The department is responsible for plumbing, electrical, licensing, permitting, and testing to keep the district certified and compliant in several areas of daily operation.
The trades staff completes work orders that could include anything from simple light bulb changes, painting, carpentry work, and locksmith work to replacement of ceilings and/or walls.
The trades department manages the Sweeps team, as well as Special Systems (including burglar alarms, access control systems, and maintaining the security video surveillance equipment).
Eanes ISD custodians maintain approximately 1,400,000 square feet, or an average of 28,000 square feet per custodian. That is the equivalent of fourteen 2,000 square foot homes in an eight-hour day.
The custodial staff is the main line of offense in providing a clean and healthy environment for district students, supporting a productive educational environment.
Monitors heating and cooling equipment for all district buildings to ensure they are working efficiently and within appropriate real-time temperature settings. Sets schedules of lighting and HVAC at after-hours events. Installs up-to-date energy saving equipment like LED lighting. Apply for Energy rebates. Monitor and track utility consumption and spending. Oversees the Campus Conservation Committees and student Green Teams.
Our goal is to have all campus meet EPA Energy Star ratings. As of the summer of 2012, Eanes Elementary, Bridge Point, Forest Trail and West Ridge have been awarded Energy Star plaques.
