Tennis Court FAQ
How can Westlake Tennis students access the courts?
Courts 4 and 5 are specifically reserved for Westlake High School tennis players, with lights scheduled from sunset to 9PM, Monday through Sunday. The Westlake HS Tennis Coach has provided all tennis students with a code that grants them full access to the courts. Should the Head Coach request additional days, we are happy to accommodate a light schedule at no extra cost. Students are welcome to practice with friends or family members, at no charge. If the tennis player is having a paid lesson, then the professional is responsible for the court fees.
Eanes ISD charges professionals who utilize our facilities for personal profit. This applies to professional tennis coaches, as well as other instructors such as baseball or basketball coaches, who charge for their services. It also applies to music tutors who utilize our facilities for our fine arts programs.
Can the community use the Westlake High School courts?
Our tournament-ready tennis courts at Westlake HS, now equipped with lights, are primarily dedicated to serving our students. However, when not in use for school activities, they are available for community and organizational rentals. The fees collected through facility rentals are allocated to the District’s General Fund and are not subject to state recapture. This is especially important now, as we are planning for a $6 million deficit next year.
How much does it cost to rent the courts?
Eanes ISD charges a flat fee of $16 for 1 hours of play on the Westlake High School courts, with or without lights.
How can I rent the tennis courts?
You can schedule a 1 hour block of time on the Westlake High School Courts by using this link. It will take you to a page that allows you to select your time/court up to 14 days in advance. From there you can pay online.
Why are the tennis courts locked?
Eanes ISD locks all facilities during school and after hours unless there is a rental or district event. Unfortunately, we have had multiple instances of vandalism when courts were not locked. The courts at West Ridge MS and Hill Country MS are available after school hours when not in use or rented. The gates to these courts remain unlocked after school hours for convenience.
I pay taxes, why do I have to pay to use district facilities?
While taxes help fund the construction, maintenance and general operation of district facilities, user fees help cover the direct costs of specific programs and services. Much like how taxes fund fire trucks but do not grant personal use, facility fees ensure equitable access while maintaining quality and sustainability.
