Eanes ISD

Trustee Election

In Texas, local school board members are elected by the registered voters within specific school district boundaries. In Eanes ISD, School Board positions are at-large positions, which means that each Trustee represents the entire school district rather than single-member positions that represent a sub-portion of the District.  Thus, all Eanes ISD registered voters may vote once for each Place on the ballot.  Each Trustee is elected to serve without compensation for terms of three years each.

The May 2020 Trustee Election has been postponed until the November 3, 2020 uniform election date.
On March 18, 2020, based on the COVID-19 emergency, Governor Abbott issued a proclamation authorizing political subdivisions, including school districts, holding elections on May 2, 2020, to postpone those elections to the November 3, 2020 uniform election date.

Based on this proclamation and guidance from the Secretary of State’s Elections Division, Travis County has indicated that they will not be conducting elections on May 2, 2020.  Thus, the Board of Trustees took action on March 31, 2020 to postpone the election until November 2020.  By postponing the election date, Eanes ISD will preserve all candidate filings and ballot order actions that have already been taken. The postponement does not have the effect of reopening candidate filings.

Three board positions will be up for election in May. Candidates are listed below:

Place 1 -- Kim McMath and John Troy

Place 2 -- Laura Clark

Place 3 – John Havenstrite
