E-cigarette/Vaping Resources
The Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) has updated materials on vaping available on its websites, including a one-pager with information on the vaping epidemic and resources for parents.
You may have seen an increase of vaping stories in the news recently. We are providing the following information so you may talk to your children on the dangers of vaping.
Teen Vaping and Lung Disease
Each Juul pod delivers the same amount of addictive nicotine as 20 cigarettes. Their mint, menthol, fruit, crème and mango flavors have fueled what the FDA warns is a “youth e-cigarette epidemic.”
The NBC News (7/10, Edwards) reports, “Addictions to electronic cigarettes are derailing the dreams of promising young athletes, leaving them struggling to breathe, keep up with their teammates and find motivation to practice” their sports.
