Destination Imagination
What is Destination Imagination?
Destination Imagination (DI) participants learn and experience the creative process from imagination to innovation, as they:
- recognize a challenge
- imagine solutions
- initiate a plan
- collaborate with teammates
- assess progress and re-adjust as needed
- evaluate results
- share and celebrate at a tournament!
Students in grades K-12 select one out of a possible seven open-ended challenges. They work in teams of up to 7 kids, under the guidance of one or two Team Managers, to find solutions while operating within a budget and a timeline! Based on the concept of divergent thinking - that there is more than one way to solve a problem – DI challenges students to build on their strengths and improve skills in a variety of ways. 21st century skills of collaboration, communication, creative thinking, and critical thinking are a focus as students work on the elements of this
