Kindergarten Whole Grade Level Acceleration
Students who are at least five years of age on September 1st of the current school year may take a CBE for Kindergarten Reading and Math. To be considered for acceleration, students must first meet the 90% grade requirement for each subject before moving on to the campus portion of the placement process. Credit-by-Exam (CBE) for acceleration is offered (and paid for) quarterly by Eanes ISD; only students enrolled in EISD for the upcoming school year are eligible to register. The passing score for CBE for acceleration is 90%. Students scoring below this standard are allowed to retest one time by registering and paying independently. Scores must be received before the start of the school year in order for a student’s grade level to be adjusted. [EHDC (Legal) and (Local); EIC (Legal) and (Local); District of Innovation Plan; Student Handbook]
Dates of CBE: 1st week in June and 3rd Week in July

5th Grade Accelerated Math 5/6 Compacted
Math 5/6 Compacted is a course offered to 5th graders only. This course covers all the 5th and 6th Grade Math TEKS in one school year. Due to the pace and nature of compacting the Math 5 and Math 6 Standards into one instructional block over one school year, this course is not recommended for MOST students. Students must meet the eligibility requirements through a process involving a point system with students receiving points based on a Student Data Matrix. Students must have a total of 17 points earned or higher on the Student Data Matrix for Math 5/6 Placement. More information about the placement process and math pathways can be found in the 5th -12th Math Parent Handbook.
Students in Math 5/6 must maintain an 80% average on assessments before retakes. If a student's assessment average drops below 80% the student will be moved down to Math 5 for the remainder of the year.
Dates of Placement Exams: Current students 1st two weeks of May; new-to-Eanes students 1st two weeks of August
Registration: 5th / 6th Math Placement New Students Only (Completed by Family)
Testing Information/Logistics: An Email will be sent to the new student’s parent/guardian 2 weeks before the date of the assessments.
Results: Will be reported to the campus and if class changes are needed it will be done at the campus level.
