Westlake Athletic & Community Center
The Westlake Athletic and Community Center (WACC) is projected to be an approximately 60,000-70,000 square feet indoor facility, comprised primarily of a multipurpose court area and a turf area.
The indoor court facilities are projected to include five to six full-size basketball courts, and 10-11 volleyball courts. The indoor turf area is projected to be a 50 length x 63 width yard indoor turf field (63-yard width allows for a 53-yard regulation field, and allows for a 5-yard buffer on both sides). The facility may be used for multiple purposes, including band, soccer, lacrosse, wrestling, football, volleyball, Robotics, cheer, Hyline, speed and agility instruction, and weight training. The facility will also have the ability to accommodate karate, yoga, gymnastics and other youth activities.
The WACC will host a number of camps throughout the summer, spring and winter breaks, specifically designed for kids in Kindergarten to 8th grade. In spite of the excessive summer heat in Austin, WACC’s indoor facility will allow children to remain active during the summer months in a climate-controlled environment. Children ages 3-18 and non-profit organizations are projected to account for 90+ percent of WACC’s overall usage.
An aquatic center is projected for the site, including a regulation Jr. Olympic-size pool meeting all USA Swimming requirements. A supplemental pool will also be included, which can be used for swim lessons and other group aquatic activities.
WACC will also include areas for concessions, physical therapy, and video/conference spaces.
