Dear Parents, Guardians & Staff,
We only have a few more days until Thanksgiving, so I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude for so many aspects in Eanes ISD.
I have to start, of course, with our amazing staff. Their work is reflected in achievements, such as high test scores, award-winning performances, science fair medals, school rankings and more. We also have staff whose contributions are not directly reflected in accolades, but equally important are those who cook meals, drive buses, process payments, oversee childcare, clean and maintain buildings, manage human resources, implement technology and curriculum, and so much more. They are working to serve children before the sun comes up and late into the night. They work on holidays and weekends and throughout the summer when schools are closed. I could not be more proud of the level of commitment our staff gives each and every day.
Our community of parents and volunteers is another group for which I'm thankful. You see them every day in our schools, at performances, games, fundraisers, carnivals and more. There are also so many you do not see, who are diligently working behind the scenes. The spirit and enthusiasm our parents and volunteers bring is a shining light on this school district.
The Eanes Education Foundation is always an organization near and dear to my heart and I am very thankful for all they do for our district. Our schools would look shockingly different without EEF's support and the generosity of those who contribute. EEF has a cadre of passionate volunteers at each campus, for all of whom I am thankful.
I am also thankful for our Board of Trustees, who volunteer countless hours to ensure our schools are accountable to the community and strongly advocate for continuous improvement in student learning. They analyze reams of reports, agendas and proposals, and many times, have a host of difficult decisions to make. Most recently, they approved a three-percent retroactive salary increase for staff, for which we are all grateful.
Finally, I would be remiss if I did not thank the community at-large. The overwhelming 89-percent approval of the Tax Ratification Election (TRE) was a statement heard around Central Texas. Our community supports our schools and our shared commitment to attract and retain high-quality staff, maintain or lower current class sizes, continue program support and stability, create and maintain facilities, all with a focus on fiscal responsibility. I appreciate those who attended informational meetings, listened at board meetings and those who helped inform voters on the facts of the election.
Eanes ISD is a highly successful, incredibly giving community. Our success is not based on one school or one program's accolades. We are strong because of all of the support we receive on so many levels. Thank you to all who contribute to our schools, staff, district and especially our students. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving Break!
