Upcoming No Homework, Late Start Days

Reminders for upcoming Eanes ISD calendar items:
Monday, Feb. 20 is a school holiday

Wednesday, Feb. 22 will be a District-wide late start date

Wednesday, Feb. 22 will be a District-wide No Homework night

The starting times differ depending on the normal starting time for your school. All schools will begin exactly 1 hour and 50 minutes late. For example, Westlake HS will start at 10:30am, rather than the usual 8:40am starting time. Bus routes will be adjusted, with pick-up times starting 1 hour and 50 minutes later than a regular school day.

Late start days will allow teachers and staff time for professional development, department planning and collaboration as educators become familiar with the new state assessment test, STAAR, and other District initiatives. The days will help offset the losses experienced by budget reductions such as professional planning time, reduction in professional development days during the school year, larger class sizes and fewer staff. Late start days will save the District money during a critical financial time, allowing teachers to receive training without the additional expense of hiring substitutes and paying for additional work days.

Remaining Late Start dates:
April 4

The No Homework nights will provide an opportunity to do something special as a family without having to worry about children having homework.

Remaining No Homework nights:
April 2
May 1
