Westlake Cheer Earns National Championship

Westlake High School’s Red Cheer Team took first place in the Super Varsity Division 1 category at the 2013 National High School Cheerleading Championship (NHSCC) this weekend. 


There were 475 teams competing in an unprecedented four venues at the Walt Disney World Resorts in Orlando, Fla.  The more than 10,000 cheerleaders traveled from 33 states to compete in the competition, representing the best cheerleaders in the United States.


“Everyone did an outstanding job at Nationals,” said Jeff Nixon, Westlake High School’s Head Cheer Coach.  “The girls represented Westlake with pride and this championship establishes them as the top in the nation.”
