Her students have made incredible progress and several have been commended on STAAR reading tests! Ms. Borinstein has a special relationship with all her students and they love her too!
Ms. Alicia Steen
Ms. Steen is a valuable asset to Barton Creek. She has a wealth of knowledge and her friendly demeanor and kind nature make her easy to talk to with questions or seeking guidance. She is very professional and her rapport with teachers, students, and parents is always amazing. Good Samaritan Award
One who displays compassion, selflessness, or courage by taking initiative.
Ms. Marolyn Smith
I believe there is not a more giving person than Ms. Smith. She always goes above and beyond to ensure that all of her friends, colleagues, neighbors - basically anyone that crosses her path - are taken care of. Recently, one of our BCE family members was in need of some help after the recent floods. Ms. Smith took it upon herself to organize a group of teachers to help with the clean-up process. She ordered and bought the supplies, arranged food for the volunteers, found furniture and house necessities, and found qualified workers to rebuild the home - all during her Spring Break. She is continuing to find supplies and help out as needed to ensure that our family member will have a clean, safe home.
As her nomination states, "Ms. Smith represents the heart of Barton Creek. We have all been touched by her generosity!"
Those who perform an outstanding achievement that brings prestige to Eanes ISD, or do something that goes above and beyond the call of duty.
Ms. MaryLou Alvarez
Ms. Alvarez has been a Pre-K teacher at Barton Creek for many years and she goes above and beyond in her creativity, dedication, and commitment to students and peers in the CDC program. She spends hours every week creating spaceships, caves, gingerbread houses, and many other props to help cultivate creativity, imagination, and learning for her students. Ms. Alvarez is so dedicated that she didn't even let an injury keep her away. She hobbled into work with a broken foot, and barely let it slow her down!
Ms. Michelle Hogan
Ms. Hogan is the first point of contact for anyone entering Barton Creek. She greets everyone with a smile and multi-tasks like a champ. She's been handling the never-ending tasks of front office personnel for the majority of the year, and continues to maintain a positive attitude, a contagious laugh, and a bright smile. Life stops at BCE when Ms. Hogan is away from school, for she is such an instrumental part of our school! We feel so lucky to have her and thank her so much for everything she does.
Mr. Zach Ward
Mr. Ward truly makes our school a better place. Not only is incredibly knowledgeable about technology, but he is reliable, and works hard for all the students and staff. The thing that makes him exceptional is the way he treats everyone here at Barton Creek: he is kind and patient and will stop what he is doing to answer students' questions and teach them about technology. Each task, no matter how small, is given high priority by Mr. Ward. He knows we count on him when it comes to the technology used in our lessons, and he takes that seriously. Thank you Mr. Ward!
